Perast is the best monument of the former maritime glory of the Bay of Kotor. This cozy little town seems to have grown into a rock standing above the bay. He stands on stones, and is made of stone.
Magnificent palaces with elegant balconies, churches and bell towers competed here in beauty, while the glory of the Perast’s sailors was known along , and sailboats came to the harbor with a rich cargo. This was Perast in the 17th and 18th centuries. Back in the 14th century, there was a shipyard and the first naval school in the region.
Perast is best known for its two islands: Gospa od Skrpjela-Lady of the Rock and Sveti Djordje-St. George, where almost all boats cruising the Bay of Kotor stop and admire their beauty. Every year in July, a colorful traditional holiday, Fashinada, is held here, which is equally loved by tourists and locals.
